Plenty of sex appeal at David Jones autumn/winter 2011 launch
FASHION force David Jones has unleashed its looks for chill weather ahead with the hottest frocks and a big dose of star power.
The retailer last night converted the top floor of its Sydney store into a moody, dimly lit salon with a dramatic glossy black runway, the Herald-Sun reports.
Led by the current face of DJs during Miranda Kerr's absence, New York-based Aussie supermodel Nicole Trunfio, the intimate Paris-style runway show starred the top trends for autumn and winter from the retailer's designer stable.
Splashes of screaming hot red and sunshine yellow punctuated the mostly muted palette favoured by designers and the perennial winter favourite - black.
Slinky leather dresses and skirts, cocktail frocks inspired by old Hollywood glamour, classic animal prints and fur will inject wardrobes with sex appeal for the colder months.
One day earlier DJs lost one of their star labels, sass and bide, to arch rival Myer in a $42.25 million takeover.
But last night the department store giant fought back with its new big gun, Dannii Minogue.
DJs pulled off its ambitious fashion coup after back-to-back controversies of a high-profile sexual harassment scandal and the absence of crowd favourite Kerr.
The first runway showing of Minogue's fashion line, Project D represented a dazzling comeback for the fashion leaders.
